In 2022, Elektra Energy delivered the first residential battery connected to the Electrical Authority of Cyprus (EAC) network on the island. Elektra Energy custom designed and built this 7.8 kilowatt (kW) PV system paired with a 7.6 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery in Skarinou. A Muskita PV racking system accommodates the tilted tile roof. On top of this robust structural support system, 20 390W Trina Solar PV modules were mounted to produce an optimal amount of energy for this family home and charge two electric vehicles (EV).
In addition, a Growatt SPH 6000TL3 BH-UP is a smart 3 phase hybrid inverter to covert the direct current from the solar modules into alternating current for this home. With a compact and elegant design, this 3 phase residential inverter has outstanding efficiency. Moreover, a Growatt SPH 6000TL3 BH-UP includes two maximum power point trackers (MPPTs) and supports export control.
Connected to the hybrid inverter is a Growatt ARK HV 7.6H cobalt-free lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery system. A battery management system (BMS) unit sits on top of the three power modules. The entire battery system stores solar energy generated during the say for the homeowners to use in the evening. As a result, they reduce their reliance on the grid when demand is greatest.
Additionally, Elektra Energy worked with EAC to clarify the inspection protocol for solar PV and residential stationary storage battery systems in the Republic of Cyprus. We suggested various system parameters and questioned their reasoning for limiting the battery system’s capabilities. After nearly a year of delays, we brought this system online and helped streamline future battery system inspections.
